Judiciary Passes the Legal Work Force Act, 22-13

By a vote of 22-13, the House Judiciary Committee passed the Legal Workforce Act (H.R. 2885). Prior to the final vote, House members defeated an amendment that would have stripped provisions limiting the state and local government role in requiring E-Verify usage.

From California, those in favor included the bill’s co-sponsor Elton Gallegly as well as Dan Lungren and Darrell Issa; those opposed were Democrats Howard Berman, Zoe Lofgren, Judy Chu, Maxine Waters and Linda Sanchez.
