CAPS Welcomes New Board and Advisory Board Members
Dear CAPS Supporter,
EXECUTIVE AMNESTY TRIPPED UP IN COURT, NEW E-VERIFY LEGISLATION PENDING
While Congress buckled under pressure and fully funded President Obama’s executive amnesties, U.S. District Judge Andrew Hanen issued an injunction against the Administration, effectively stopping the implementation of the amnesties.
Back in Congress, legislation is now pending that addresses many of the core issues we work on at CAPS. Birthright citizenship legislation (S 45/HR 140) has been introduced and is currently in committee. Mandatory E-Verify legislation (HR 1147) has made it out of committee and now awaits introduction to the House floor. And yet another bill (HR 604) seeks to tackle chain migration!
CAPS has high hopes for these bills, especially E-Verify, but it will still take all of our effort to get these bills through Congress! Please make sure you tell your elected officials that you want to see these bills pass!

CAPS COLLEGE OUTREACH SNEAK PEEK!
On the heels of a successful pilot project last spring, CAPS has launched a College Outreach program at major universities. Upcoming programs will be held at UCLA, UCSB and CU Boulder and feature renowned population experts such as Dave Foreman and Phil Cafaro. Mr. Foreman and Mr. Cafaro are at the forefront of today’s population and environmental debates and through this program, provide a much needed point of view that is sadly missing from today’s college campuses.
College students are generally unaware of the exponential effects of population growth fueled by over-immigration since the topic is often ignored in university curriculum. This project serves as an entry point to “connect the dots” by meeting students where they are most engaged with CAPS’ mission – environmental sustainability. CAPS is working to educate, motivate and mobilize the next generation of population stabilization advocates. Judith H. Smith is an active community volunteer who serves and has served on numerous non-profit boards. Her interest in CAPS is focused on the immigration problem and its effects on our environment, education system, health issues and the way our government is run. She says, “I cannot think of a more encompassing or vital concern.” She earned a BFA in Art & Architecture at Stanford University.
Kristin Larson, Esq. whose international law practice focuses on environmental business law, advises clients on liability risks, compliance and sustainability strategies as well as renewable energy generation. Her interest in population issues relates directly to her concerns for moderating environmental impacts and sustaining healthy ecosystems. Kristin spent almost a decade in Antarctica managing the National Science Foundation’s research and environmental compliance matters.
Advisory Board
Dave Foreman, prolific author of Man Swarm and the founder of the Rewilding Institute is a conservation leader and visionary who believes that only by stabilizing the human population can we stop wrecking our home—Earth. Unlike many environmentalists, Foreman embraces immigration reduction and offers practical steps to bring our numbers down to what the planet can support—“if we have the daring, boldness, and love of life to do it.”
Dr. Herbert E. Barthels, is a lifetime Californian, graduate of USC and dedicated community volunteer. An accomplished American open ocean rough water swimmer, he is very concerned about the preservation of our oceans and natural agricultural areas. He has personally observed the exponential rise in immigrant numbers and resultant uncontrolled population growth. He believes we should have sensible development policies which take into consideration how much land is being developed, who is funding the development and how it will make sense economically.
Dario Sattui, a fourth generation San Franciscan whose great-grandfather was one of California’s first winemakers, began business ventures at the age of 8 and conducted various enterprises until he refounded his great-grandfather’s winery, V. Sattui Winery. He was voted Italian-American Businessman of the Year in California and citizen of the Year in Calistoga. He founded the Boys & Girls Club in Calistoga, travels extensively and owns several properties in Italy as well as a major interest in a New York winery. He has an MBA from U.C. Berkeley and has been involved in environmental causes and population stabilization for many years.
