Nothing has a greater effect on the future of this nation than our immigration policy. The tacit amnesty that began with Bill Clinton and supported by George Bush has continued under the Obama administration. Immigration and all its tentacles reach into every nook and cranny of our country and our culture including negative impacts on healthcare, education, crime and the environment. This single issue and all of its components are shaping the future of our country in a way that legislation cannot.
If put to a vote the American people would not support the current immigration policy being observed in our country. Still, American’s voices are being heard.
The Rasmussen reported on Monday;
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/current_events/healthcare/september_2009/83_say_proof_of_citizenship_should_be_required_to_get_government_health_aid
…The health care plan proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats contains many controversial items that divide the general public. However, one area of consensus among the public is the desire to restrict government health care benefits to U.S. citizens only.
Eighty-three percent (83%) of voters nationwide say that people should be required to prove they are a citizen of the United States before receiving government health care subsidies…
83%! That crosses all political, racial, religious and gender lines. This number shows the wisdom of the American people. And if asked, I am confident of that we would find supermajorities support border security and employment law enforcement as well.
The massive turn out of Americans for the April 15th and subsequent Tea Parties has mobilized many who have never protested or been politically active before. The activism continued in the congressional townhall meetings, packed with citizens concerned about the healthcare bill. Americans are responding to this government in ways not seen since the anti-draft rallies of the Viet Nam war. And this gives us cause for hope.
Immigration news reporting has been sparse the past couple of months. With the return of the congress, September and the new season of television shows Americans now return to what passes for normal. Once the healthcare debate has ended, immigration must be dealt with, even minimally, before we get into the congressional midterm election cycle.
The pro-open borders crowd expects a lot from Obama. Their enthusiasm has recently cooled even after meetings in the White House. But, they continue to push for action. We know for sure the Washington elites don’t want immigration debated during a political campaign. So, whenever the discussion begins we can look forward to American people speaking out in favor of law enforcement and against amnesty.
But, why wait? Let’s get talk radio cooking on this issue now. There is plenty in the news to discuss. Let’s get talk radio revved up on immigration enforcement, now.
Budget deficits? Made worse by illegal immigration.
Unemployment? Made worse by illegal immigration.
Healthcare system got problems? Made worse by illegal immigration
Environment degradation? Made worse by record population growth fueled by illegal aliens, legal immigrants and the children they have.
Drugs, gangs, violence? You get the picture.
It was the voice of the American people that stopped the healthcare takeover in its tracks. It will be the voice of the American people who will force this government to defend our nation’s sovereignty by securing our borders and enforcing our immigration and employment laws.
