Pondering Pelosi

Pondering Pelosi

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi made a statement on one of the Sunday talking heads shows that is interesting to say the least. As you can see from the transcript below, Speaker Pelosi is justifying spending hundreds of millions of tax dollars to expand family planning as part of the economic stimulus.

She actually said, “The states are in terrible fiscal budget crises now and part of what we do for children’s health, education and some of those elements are to help the states meet their financial needs…contraception, will reduce cost to the states and to the federal government.”

So, Speaker Pelosi has finally recognized that there are costs for healthcare and education for children and her solution to reduce these costs is to reduce the number of babies being born through “family planning.” This would be laughable if it wasn’t so sad.

The illegal alien population explosion has impacted every state budget since the early 90s. The “anchor baby boom” (millions of children born to illegal aliens) now equals the Baby Boom generation and has saddled state budgets with $Billions in extra costs since the early 90s. From Medicare costs to education costs to welfare costs and more, the babies born to illegal aliens (most of whom have a reproduction rate near twice the national average) has been routinely and consistently ignored by most politicos, including Nancy Pelosi.

Ms. Pelosi, the birth rate of American families is near replacement level. If you really want to substantially reduce the birth rate to relieve the pressure on state budgets, stop illegal immigration immediately. The way to do it is to make E-Verify mandatory immediately. By cutting off jobs to illegal aliens you will have cut off the # 1 magnet for those wanting to come to America and by extension any children they would produce while living and working here illegally.

Since 80% of America’s population growth (100% of California’s growth) is fueled by legal and illegal immigration and the babies they have, if you really want to reduce the population growth rate, deal with these issues and you will see an effect much much sooner than pouring hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars into planned parenthood.

Our population growth is from legal and illegal immigration. We have a population of 306 million today. At the current rate of legal and illegal immigration and the children they have America will have a population of half a billion people in 40 years.

More than likely Speaker Pelosi was caught off guard and had to manufacture an answer on the fly and like most in Washington thinks that any piece of pork or political payoff to a special interest can be justified in the name of the “stimulus package.” But, until a correction, err, clarification is issued by her office, let’s go with it.

Speaker Pelosi, by cutting off the jobs magnet you can reduce illegal immigration and the corresponding pressure on the state budgets. When can we get started?

Transcript:
STEPHANOPOULOS: Hundreds of millions of dollars to expand family planning services. How is that stimulus?

PELOSI: Well, the family planning services reduce cost. They reduce cost. The states are in terrible fiscal budget crises now and part of what we do for children's health, education and some of those elements are to help the states meet their financial needs. One of those - one of the initiatives you mentioned, the contraception, will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government.

STEPHANOPOULOS: So no apologies for that?

PELOSI: No apologies. No. we have to deal with the consequences of the downturn in our economy.

"Who in our country, who in our country, could not be moved by their stories? Who in our country would not want to change a policy of kicking in doors in the middle of the night and sending a parent away from their families"

excuse me, Madame Dingbat, who was it that kicked in the door and kidnapped a 7 year old boy in Miami a few years ago - in the Spring of 2000 to be more precise... I am pretty sure the American family of Elian Gonzalez would agree that kicking in doors and taking people at 3 am is not a good policy - but then again - current Atty Gen'l Eric Holder was neck-deep in that raid, so maybe you should point your boney fingers at him...

Thank GOD I don't live in California - we have Kucinich the moron in Ohio, but you have nothing but morons in the Senate and House...

We need to start asking our politicians exactly how they can reconcil a vision for a better future in California with a planned increase of 36 million people today to 60 million in 2050. We need to keep hammering on this point, how can we protect the environment, provide health care for all and provide the best schooling for our kids while our population has been increasing by over 1000 people per day. We can't let them weasel out of this question.

Pelosi is very good when it comes to birth control, but the quote about kicking in doors is just fear mongering. While the police sometimes use excessive force usually they don't kick in the door unless they suspect violent resistance, usually they knock politely before they arrest you. The U.S. should be a paragon of human rights and we should be critical if the police and INS are not upholding our values, but that doesn't mean we can't arrest and deport the guilty. For example I am sympathetic to homeless people but I don't want them camping in my yard and if they did and they wouldn't leave I would call the police. Maybe Pelosi can create a homeless encampment in her yard. If she won't then we can call her an nazi who hates the homeless.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi gave her weekly press conference Friday afternoon. This was her first audience with the media since her charges that the CIA lied to her and regularly lies to those with whom the agency briefs. After that train wreck of an appearance she promptly hightailed it out of town and spent last weekend in Arizona, too busy to accept requests for interviews on the Sunday morning shows.
