Anchor Baby Alert: Young Mothers often Accompany ‘Unaccompanied Minors’

Published on June 30th, 2014

Until the invasion, “unaccompanied minors” was a term most often used by the airline industry in relation to age parameters for children traveling without an adult. Today, however, unaccompanied minors means aliens crossing into the southwestern United States, even though many are obviously accompanied, mostly by women, some of them pregnant.

An unaccompanied minor, as open borders advocates apply the term, is similar in tone to “undocumented immigrant” because it softens the impression of, and creates sympathy for, law-breaking aliens.

While compassion for the children is appropriate, the dominant story line should be the long-term fiscal consequences of thousands of aliens, few of whom will return home, on the U.S. taxpaying public. The short-term costs are already astronomical; the Senate approved $2 billion to feed, shelter and provide medical care to the illegal immigrants.

Gil Kerlikowske, commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, said that many of the infant aliens border patrol agents detained have never seen a doctor. Kerlikowske described his agents changing diapers and heating baby formula, tasks clearly outside of their job description. While they’re playing nursemaid, the agents aren’t doing what is their job – apprehending drug smugglers, sex traffickers and other hardened criminals determined to wreak havoc in the U.S.

Meanwhile, for teenage aliens, it’s summer camp. Nearly 200 are currently housed at Port Hueneme, a Ventura County, Calif. naval base. The children’s activities include three square meals a day with a recent dinner consisting of lasagna, sautéed zucchini and parsley bread, physical education classes, ping-pong and foosball, with timeouts for television or movies.

As for long-term impacts, the sky is the limit: tens of millions of dollars in publicly funded education, medical care and social service benefits, paid by Americans who want the border controlled, not opened wide to all who can make the trek.

The Obama administration-created border calamity is so acute that even Hillary Clinton says the children should be “sent back as soon as it can be determined who responsible adults in their families are….” Clinton added that the U.S. message to Central Americans should be that “Just because your child gets across the border, that doesn’t mean the child gets to stay.”
