CAPS Launches Aggressive Anti-Amnesty Campaign against Gang of Eight’s McCain

Published on March 18th, 2013

Californians for Population Stabilization recently launched a television, radio and online advertising campaign in Arizona that identified Senator John McCain, one of notorious Gang of Eight, as failing to fulfill his constituents’ desire to secure the border and urging him vote against amnesty legislation. In its press release, CAPS noted that McCain’s amnesty would not only hurt Arizona’s legal workers but also employed and unemployed Americans nationwide. Each new permanent legal resident would qualify for work authorization and thus compete directly Americans looking for jobs or hoping to improve the one they may already hold. Read CAPS’ press release here.

During most of his 25-year career, McCain has been one of the most dedicated amnesty advocates and has voted in favor of not only the 2007 legislation but also other illegal immigrant entitlements like the federal DREAM Act. Curiously, the only time McCain backed off was during his ill-fated 2008 presidential bid. Knowing that Americans opposed amnesty and wanted border enforcement,

McCain infamously (and laughably to those who know him better) said: “I’ll complete the danged fence.” Listen to McCain lie here

Since McCain’s 2008 defeat is history and his subsequent 2016 senate re-election bid is still three years away, he feels confident that he can safely return to his longstanding amnesty advocacy. But during a Town Hall meeting earlier this year, angry constituents reminded McCain of his broken promises and demanded that he back away from amnesty. See the video here.

CAPS sent a SOS (Save our State) message to its Arizona neighbors warning  them about the negative consequences McCain’s proposed legislation would have including green cards and taxpayer funded social security benefits for aliens. America’s illegal alien population is conservatively estimated at 11 million. Watch CAPS’ ad here.

CAPS plans future ads that will be aimed at other amnesty proponents.
