Fmr INS Agent: Obama ‘Obviously’ Wants Border Crisis to Continue

Published on August 5th, 2014

On July 29, 2014, I was a guest on the Fox News program, “Your World with Neil Cavuto.” I have had the pleasure of being a guest on Neil’s show many times over the past several years, and I cannot recall a time when he seemed more revved up than he was July 29 – and with good reason.

Mobs of illegal aliens defiantly standing outside the White House holding signs that identified them as being illegal aliens were ignored by law enforcement as they demanded immigration benefits and more. Illegal aliens also testified before a Congressional hearing.

Neil’s rant, broadcast as part of his program, was posted on his website with the unambiguous title, “Cavuto: They’re ‘cutting in line,’ we’re ‘cutting checks.’”

Several hours after the program aired, Breitbart posted a news report, the title of which serves as the title to my commentary. It included my comments on Neil’s program and a link to a portion of the segment in which I participated.

Our nation’s borders are America’s first line of defense and last line of defense against threats to national security, public safety, public health and the overall well-being of America and Americans. As I have also noted when I’ve testified before various Congressional hearings, if indeed we only get one opportunity to make a first impression, it is our immigration laws and how they are enforced and administered by our government that provide that critical first impression for millions of people around the world. Failures of the administration to enforce our immigration laws and secure our borders do nothing to deter aspiring illegal aliens from around the world to head for the United States.

Worse yet, the continual use (misuse?) of “prosecutorial discretion” to undermine the legal immigration system by which roughly one million lawful immigrants entered the U.S. last year further erodes the concept that we are a “nation of laws” and undermines our system of “checks and balances.”

Late last week as Congress debated whether or not to provide billions of dollars to help the administration deal with the huge numbers of illegal aliens from Central America showing up on our southwest border, the president talked about grabbing for his infamous pen to write still more executive orders and policy decisions to provide unknown millions of illegal aliens with lawful status – in essence enacting Comprehensive Immigration Reform without the benefit of legislation that Congress has thus far consistently rejected.

This certainly lends credence to my June 11, 2014, article for FrontPage Magazine: “Obama’s Manufactured Crisis at the Border.”

Members of Congress were in the midst of debating how the government could expeditiously return these illegal aliens to their home countries to deter others contemplating a run for the U.S. These newest statements by Obama about his desire to provide massive numbers of illegal aliens with lawful status amounted to crying fire in a crowded theater. It is impossible to believe that he had anything in mind other than to increase the flood of illegal aliens heading to the U.S., thereby overwhelming our already beleaguered Border Patrol agents and other personnel of the DHS.

During my discussion on Neil’s program, I noted that aliens who evade the inspections process are not only “undocumented,” but also uninspected. The 9/11 Commission, to which I provided testimony, noted in its report and in the report issued by the 9/11 Commission Staff that immigration has a clear nexus to national security.

Here is what I wish I had the time to have added to my comments on the air:

The Republican Party does not get a pass where the current immigration disaster is concerned. Leaders of the Republican Party are quick to repetitively recite the mantra that we cannot deport 11 million illegal aliens. Of course it’s likely that we have 30 million or more illegal aliens in the U.S. now – that 11 million estimate is as worthless as the oft-noted unemployment rate of 6.1 percent which ignores the plight of nearly 100 million unemployed working age Americans.

More troubling, however, is the fact that in that statement of what cannot be done with those who have already violated our borders and our laws is a declaration of defeat and surrender. Since we supposedly cannot remove millions of illegal aliens, the pretend debate between the Democrats and Republicans has come down to whether to provide these millions of illegal aliens with a pathway to U.S. citizenship or “only” lawful status that would enable them to work, travel freely across the U.S. and our borders and send money home, further exacerbating our national debt and further wreaking havoc on the U.S. economy and American workers.

You have to believe that the Republican leadership is ecstatic – they get to bash Obama while the flood of illegal aliens continues. Those writing juicy campaign contribution checks for the Republican Party are thrilled. Without lifting a finger or leaving a fingerprint at the “scene of the crime” the Republicans have attained the almost unattainable – they are able to simultaneously be politically in two, conflicting places, at the same time!

During his rant, Neil demanded to know who is lobbying for U.S. citizens. With the exception of stalwart courageous politicians such as Senators Jeff Sessions, Chuck Grassley and David Vitter and Representatives Lou Barletta, Steve King and several others, the answer is that not nearly enough of our representatives represent us.

It is time Americans got their voices heard before Election Day.

Democracy is not a spectator sport! Take action! As a start, tell your representative to send 10,000 National Guard members to the border.
