Obama on Immigration: "Laws?! We Don't Need No Stinking Laws!"

Published on January 14th, 2013

In the 1948 movie classic, “The Treasure of Sierra Madre,” which starred Humphrey Bogart, Bogie and two other Americans prospecting for gold in Mexico are confronted by banditos claiming to be Federales.  Bogart demands to see their badges, asking, "If you guys are the Federales, then where are your badges?"

Their response, "¿Badges? ¡We don't need no stinking badges!"

Since taking office, President Obama has established a pattern of issuing executive orders to promulgate regulations that countermand immigration laws without the legislative process. Obama claims that his power of granting “prosecutorial discretion” allows him to violate the Constitution's checks and balances principle.

While other presidents have used executive orders to push their respective agendas, this administration has gone well beyond reasonable limits by requiring Department of Homeland Security employees to violate the immigration laws that they swore to uphold and enforce.

By thumbing his nose at the Constitution and the legislative process, Obama has, in essence, looked Congress and United States' citizens in the eye and said, “Laws, we don't need no stinking laws!” (We have executive orders!). President Obama has done it again!

Nature's laws are immutable. The speed of light, for example, is not dependent upon a law enforcement officer with a badge, radar gun and summons book.  Speed limits that are established by government agencies, on the other hand, are meaningless unless they are enforced.

On January 2, 2013, Breitbart posted a report that was entitled: "Obama Bypasses Congress, Shifts Rules on Immigration Again."

The article reported that the President has issued yet another executive order to violate provisions of the immigration laws that penalize aliens who violate the immigration laws.

From the first paragraph:

It took a year, but the Obama administration has now changed immigration rules to make it easier for illegal aliens with U.S. relatives to remain in the country while seeking a visa.

Illegal immigrants who have family members — a spouse, children, or parents — who are already U.S. citizens usually have to return to their home country in order to apply for a visa to stay in the U.S. Those who had already been in the U.S. for more than 6 months illegally would also have to apply for a waiver to ignore their unlawful presence before their visa application could be considered.

The article noted that under the administration's new rules illegal aliens may now apply for a waiver of the rule that requires illegal aliens who were illegally present in the United States to have to return to their home countries while they wait for their visas to be issued.

Under the guise of reducing the hardship that requiring illegal aliens to return to their home countries imposes on them and their families, the President has again taken it upon himself to minimize the significance of the immigration laws that were promulgated to protect innocent lives, American jobs and lawful immigrant workers.

To President Obama, immigration laws and border security are nothing more than political bargaining chips.

The statues that depict Justitia (Lady Justice) show her wearing a blindfold, indicative that law should be blind (impartial).  Where immigration laws are concerned Justitia is doing more than a little “peeking” and the administration apparently is hoping that United States' citizens are wearing the blindfolds. http://morganguyton.files.wordpress.com/2011/09/justitia1.gif

This is another example of mind over matter. If Obama doesn't mind, violations of law don't matter!
