The population equation: 80,000 chemicals injected 24/7

Published on January 16th, 2013

As the United States adds 100 million people within the next 25 years, you may feel an uneasy disquietude as the facts pile up that force Americans to make the connection between overpopulation and our deteriorating society. The sheer numbers of humans move us into dangerous territory as to food production, energy usage, water and non-renewable resources.

Former Vice President Al Gore hosted "An Inconvenient Truth" which triggered a rousing debate. Ironically, Gore never mentioned overpopulation.

While his critics scurrilously attacked him about global warming, in my world travels, I personally watched the glaciers melt: they don’t lie. Lester Brown, author of Plan B, 4.0 validates Gore with scientific proof.  When you wreck any system's supporting mechanisms, ultimately its ability to function is destroyed.

Consider water, land and air, all used by humans in great quantities daily. Everyday more than 80,000 chemicals are injected into the air and into the land and water all over the planet.

“Vanishing of the Bees!” by Bee Hive Productions chronicles bee destruction planet-wide. The documentary shows billions of bees dying from “Colony Collapse Disorder” by a 40-year beekeeper named David Hackenberg of Lewisberg, Pennsylvania. This enormous death rate occurs worldwide where humans spray chemicals on crops, especially mono-culture crops.

Hackenberg met with French beekeepers and obtained a court order that forced Bayer Chemical Company to stop polluting. The French supported Hackenberg's when 300,000 people marched in Paris' streets screaming, "Stop killing our bees!" Their bees returned to their healthy plants and pollinating.

But here in the USA, Hackenberg and David Menendez, another beekeeper, must show scientific proof to stop Bayer from distributing the deadly chemicals.

Hackenberg said, “The future of  bees will define whether or not man can live on this planet.”

WHERE DO THOSE 80,000 CHEMICALS GO?

According to the Environmental Working Group, 95.6 percent of Americans store chemicals in their bodies from ingesting them from eating fruits and vegetables.  All chicken and beef products carry eight to nine toxic chemicals in their bodies that transfer to your body when you eat them.

Former CBS anchor, Katie Couric, once reported that 20 years ago, 1 in 20,000 live births in the United States suffered autism; today, it’s 1 in 110 births. According to Couric, scientists don’t know what’s causing it, but they continue to investigate chemicals in our environment that may be the factors.

The answer is obvious: billions of tons of chemicals injected onto every living thing on this planet since 1945. Everyone is at risk, especially developing children.

The Environmental Protection Agency estimates that 40 percent of children tested by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from 1999 to 2002 had unsafe levels of organophosphate in their bodies above standard margins of safety (Paynes-Sturges 2009). Researchers from Emory University in Atlanta have reported that young children are exposed to organophosphates primarily through their diets.

Families can protect themselves from being poisoned by going organic. Adding 100 million Americans within 25 years will worsen our growing exposure to deadly chemicals.
