— CAPS Asks If California Is Prepared For Tens of Millions More Immigrants? —

SANTA BARBARA, Ca. — June 28, 2006— Californians for Population Stabilization (CAPS) launched a TV campaign in California this week warning viewers that US population could reach 500 million by 2050.

The ad campaign launches as the nation is on the verge of crossing the 300 million population mark. Immigration is the primary factor driving US population to 300 million and will play an even larger role in the country’s future population growth if new proposals to drastically increase immigration are enacted.

Diana Hull, President of CAPS commented, “At a time when most Americans want less immigration, there are proposals to drastically increase levels. California does not have the infrastructure to handle tens of millions more immigrants. Many of our hospitals are already going bankrupt. Traffic is horrendous. Our schools are more dysfunctional than ever and the state is near bankruptcy. The last thing California needs is more immigration.”

The TV spots employ footage of recent immigrant protest marches as the announcer reveals that there are proposals to increase immigration by over a hundred million. The announcer goes on to say, “The last thing California needs is more traffic, crowded schools and bankrupt hospitals. The last thing California needs is more immigration.” Viewers are directed to make their voices heard by visiting capsweb.org.
