Ventura, CA, (July 15, 2019) – This past week, the U.S. House of Representatives passed House Resolution 1044, the Fairness for High-Skilled Immigrants Act of 2019. If passed in the Senate, this legislation would increase the per-country cap on family-based immigrant visas and lift the per-country caps on employment-based green cards.

Through various loopholes, this bill would ensure that most employment-based green cards go to nationals from two countries, India and China, who are often recruited for jobs in the tech sector and work for lower wages.

Californians for Population Stabilization Executive Director Ric Oberlink said:

“The ‘Fairness for High-Skilled Immigrants Act of 2019’ is nothing more than an insider deal for Big Tech companies to fill some of America’s best jobs with foreign workers who will work for lower wages. Immigration laws should benefit American workers, not improve the bottom line for corporations making record profits. Unemployment may be low, but student debt is at record levels. Many Americans still can’t find jobs that pay well.”

“The United States Senate must make sure big tech companies do not get a sweetheart deal for cheap foreign workers, while millions of college graduates, saddled with student debt, are stepped over for some of the best paying jobs in America.”
