An assault on 287(g)

According to, the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 added Section 287(g) which allows designated state officers and employees to perform immigration officer functions after entering into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency (ICE).  The MOA defines the scope and limitations of the delegation of authority.  ICE supervises the designated officers when they exercise their immigration duties.
